Please Help Us Care for Tigger Tom

Tigger Tom is a sweet-natured, lovable, buff-colored cat who was rescued by PCHS on a Saturday afternoon after a distressing call came into the office from a good Samaritan frantically looking for help with this injured boy. He was lying in a driveway, unable to help himself because his lower jaw had been broken in half, either from abuse or from being hit by a car. A PCHS volunteer drove over to rescue him, and he was taken to our shelter so we could assess his injuries and keep him safe. He was then sent into surgery to repair his jaw, where a metal rod was inserted across the bottom, lengthwise, and then a wire was put around that in a figure eight to hold it all together. He also was neutered at this time. All this was made possible with your contributions to the Emergency Fund. Throughout this whole ordeal, Tigger Tom was gentle as a lamb, and it was noted that he is a very loud purring machine. No doubt he was thankful to be rescued from his pain, suffering, and most likely, death. He will undergo another surgery to remove the wire around his jaw, but for now he is recuperating in a warm and safe foster home. His needs are being met with the same tenderness that this patient young gentleman bestows upon those that he meets. PCHS will continue to give Tigger Tom the care he needs to recover and live the life that every innocent creature deserves, one in which he receives love, respect, and devotion. He will know that there are many good humans out there who realize the value that our animal companions have in our world, and eventually this wonderful creature will do what cats love to do -- sit and look out the windows watching the birds fly by or nesting in the trees, chase those great catnip toys, and be a best friend to someone who will cherish him forever.

Your contributions can help other animals that come into emergency situations like Tigger Tom's so that they, too, can have a chance at life.

We have hope for animals like Tigger Tom, and with your help we expect each of them to have the chance at a full and healthy life. All of their care will be paid for through our emergency funds and we are counting on you, our supporters, to help Tigger Tom and other cats and dogs with unexpected vet expenses.

You are the lifeline to our Emergency Fund

Tigger Tom is the kind of animal that can be helped by our Emergency Care Fund. After helping care for recent litters of kittens, and puppies our emergency funds are again nearly depleted. We need the help of our supporters to properly care for these animals and make sure we remain prepared to help the next animal that finds itself in need of emergency care.

Why There is a Need for an Emergency Care Fund
It is unfortunately not uncommon for cats and dogs in our care to need extensive (and expensive) medical treatment due to sickness or injury--whether intentional or unintentional. We are able to pay for Tigger Tom's treatment and those of animals in similar need through the resources of our Emergency Care Fund. This fund was established at Paws and Claws to help cats and dogs who have an urgent health issue making it possible for us to afford the needed care to help save an animal's life and relieve pain and suffering.

So please, help us continue to care for those animals who need urgent or unexpected medical attention.
